Private File Tools

Privacy Policy

This policy explains exactly what happens to your data when you use this site. The short version: your files never leave your device, and we do not collect personal information.

Last updated: 1 August 2026

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Private File Tools and every tool hosted on it, including the image converters and the PDF tools. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

Your files are never uploaded

Every conversion, merge and split on this site runs inside your own web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. The files you select are read into your browser's memory, worked on there, and written back out as a download.

Your file data is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives files, so there is nothing for us to store, read, sell or lose in a breach. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and convert a file — no file data is uploaded. You can also disconnect from the internet entirely and the tools will still work.

Files you have finished with are discarded from memory when you clear the queue, close the tab or navigate away. Nothing persists after your session ends.

Information stored on your device

The site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses a small amount of browser storage for one purpose only:

  • Session storage — a single flag remembering that you dismissed an informational note about file sizes, so it is not shown repeatedly during one visit. This is cleared automatically when you close the tab and is never transmitted anywhere.

Information collected automatically by our host

The site is served as static files by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical request data — such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested — in order to deliver the page to you and to protect against abuse and denial of service attacks. We do not use this data to identify individuals, and we do not run any analytics product that profiles visitors.

Cloudflare's handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy as a service provider.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. If advertising is introduced in future, this policy will be updated before any ads appear, and the following will apply:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
  • Introducing advertising would not change how your files are handled — file processing would remain entirely local to your browser.

Your rights under GDPR and CCPA

Because we do not collect or store personal data, there is generally no personal information for us to disclose, correct, port or delete. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California and believe we hold information about you, you may contact us at the address below and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes — particularly any introduction of advertising or analytics — will be described clearly rather than made quietly.
