Private File Tools

Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of this site. They are deliberately short, because the site collects nothing from you and asks nothing of you.

Last updated: 1 August 2026

Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using Private File Tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. No account is required to use the tools, so using the site is itself your acceptance.

What the service is

This site provides free file utilities — image format conversion and PDF manipulation — that execute entirely within your web browser. No files are transmitted to us. We do not receive, process, host or store any file you work on.

The service is provided free of charge, with no registration, no usage quota and no subscription.

Your responsibilities

When using this site you agree that:

  • You have the legal right to use, modify and convert the files you process. You are solely responsible for the content of those files.
  • You will not use the site for any unlawful purpose, including infringing copyright or processing material you are not permitted to possess.
  • You will not attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities in a way that harms other users, or redistribute it as your own service.
  • You keep your own backups. Because everything happens locally and nothing is stored, a file lost to a browser crash cannot be recovered by us.

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to your files. Nothing in these terms grants us any licence, ownership or interest in the content you process — which would be impossible in any case, since your files never reach us.

The site's own design, text and code remain the property of its operator. The tools are built on open-source software provided by third parties under their respective licences.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, or that every file will convert successfully.

File conversion is inherently lossy in some directions. Converting to JPEG, for example, discards image data permanently. Always keep your original files.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of this site shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including data loss, corrupted output or lost profits. Because the service is provided free of charge and processes nothing on our systems, your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using it.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Third-party software

The tools rely on open-source libraries, which are distributed under their own licences and provided without warranty by their respective authors. These run in your browser alongside the site's own code.

Changes and availability

The site may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time without notice. These terms may also be updated; the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
